Key project scheduling features of PSNext

1 - INITIALIZATION OF A PROJECT

Initialization
Initialization

When using PSNext’s Portfolio capabilities, projects are directly initialized from the Portfolio. Alternatively, any executive can initiate a project in a dedicated component to set the main objectives and assign a project manager.

PSNext provides the availability to manage and define the information flow between these two stakeholders.

2 - SCHEDULING

Planning

Scheduling a project consists of defining and organizing its tasks, as well as the dependencies that link them to each other.

PSNext includes an abundance of sophisticated tools such as Monte Carlo Simulation, pooled risk analysis, resource leveling etc. PSNext’s Planner component is based on 30+ years of experience in critical path project management software.

3 - NEEDS ASSIGNMENT

Needs

During the initial phase of project planning, project managers can describe their task needs by specifying the job classification and skills required to perform the task as well as any other costs (material, external, etc.).

4 - PROJECT VALIDATION

Validation

Once the project is planned, the project manager can verify that the established objectives can be accomplished. Afterwards, the executive can authorize the publishing of the project, enabling the project data to be viewed by all stakeholders who have access permission to the project.

5 - PUBLISH

Publish

Publishing is an essential step in disseminating project information to stakeholders. For example, publishing makes projects available for collaboration and team member time-tracking.

Additionally and if desired, permissions can be used to limit user reporting visibility to published versions only of a project. A project manager can maintain up to five working versions of a project and publish the latest version at any given time.

VIEW LAYOUTS

PSNext provides selectable view layouts that can be used to control the contents and format of the current view. Layouts can include individual user preferences and corporate standards.

DELEGATION AND WORK PACKAGES

Multi-projects
Multi-projects

In PSNext, management can designate a selected group of tasks as a work package. This work package can then be managed independently by a work package manager. This ability to delegate sub-sections of a project to functional managers is useful in matrix organizations.

LINKING MULTIPLE PROJECTS

PSNext’s project interlink features allow schedules of multiple projects to include relationship interdependencies between each other. Project managers get a consolidated situation of the project’s inter-dependencies and status.
