Resources management with PSNext

Resource management covers job & skills management, availability visualisation and resource leveling.

PSNext provides extensive Resource Management features within the Resource component. A true dialog takes place between the project and the resource managers to determine the resources that will make up the project team. Resource estimates are easily carried out by using generic assignments based on jobs, skills or departments.

Resource management can be split in 5 key steps:

  1. Needs estimation
  2. Submit resource requests
  3. Study pending requests
  4. Reply to requests
  5. Team building

Key resources management features of PSNext

1 - NEEDS ESTIMATION

Required project teams
Required project teams

Project managers can describe their resource needs by specifying the job classification, skills, team or individuals required to perform each task.

2 - SUBMIT RESOURCE REQUESTS

Organization
Organization

Project managers can use the overall project resource needs to buildup the required Resource Requests. Requests are sent to each involved resource manager and will be flagged as pending.

3 - STUDY PENDING REQUESTS

Resources requests

Two views within the Resource component offer ease of use with request management. The Resource Contract view holds all the incoming Resource Requests and their status. The Resource Utilization View provides an overview of each resource’s activity including the projects they are working on, their availability (including approved absences) and the already committed requests.

4 - REPLY TO REQUESTS

Resource managers can reply to a single request with one or multiple resources. Answered requests are sent back to the project manager detailing the resources names that will fulfill the task.

5 - TEAM BUILDING

Team building

Project Managers are able to approve or reject each answered request from the resource manager. By approving them, a resource contract is established giving an authorized availability for the project to each resource.

JOB & SKILLS MANAGEMENT

Job classifications, skills and teams can be used to make generic (soft) resource assignments during the planning of a project.
