Project Management Challenges

Can you briefly present what you do and what kind of projects you manage?

I work in the IT department and am in charge of large implementations in general, and more particularly, of all the technical support of Sciforma including upgrades and troubleshooting any related subject.

How did you manage your projects before Sciforma?

We used to use spreadsheets with imported and hand typed Microsoft Project data, but the users wanted one place where everything would be input and managed.

There are 2 main reasons why we needed to change:

  • We were missing standardized forms. By using Sciforma we have predefined forms and avoid having 5 different software versions and various Excel sheets floating around. Basically we are avoiding all the cons of using Excel.
  • We needed to control our budget and to identify and track cost savings. Again, to have everything wrapped up in a same place is essential.

The solution: Sciforma PPM

What made you choose Sciforma?

I wasn’t in the selection process. However I have heard that even if the other tools are good software, Sciforma had and still has an incredible flexibility.

Which benefits can you observe? Which results did you get?

  • The ability to report and make good manager decisions because all the information is available.
  • To have a centralized location. Everyone knows the difficulty of getting people to put data into a special project management system. Without having complete and accurate data it’s impossible to analyze project information. Sciforma gave us the opportunity to get the users on board and to put the data into the system.

Are you considering increasing the number of users or features you are currently using?

We are currently upgrading to Sciforma 6 and have around 200-300 users. With coming enhancements we will add about 100 users. As our organization grows, the number of users will follow.

Would you recommend Sciforma? Yes. We have known a lot of changes since PS Next and it is definitely improved for the best. I recommend it.

What is your experience with the Sciforma team?

To be honest that’s one of the best parts. We are very happy about the support we received so far. The Sciforma team knows our business and the biggest thing is that the team is able to advise us about our processes. Sciforma’s team is very informative and knowledgeable.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

As a bottom line, I want to say that Sciforma is a great tool and is made even better by the people behind the tool.
