Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology Chooses Sciforma PPM for Global Visibility on Project Portfolios
30 August, 2023Paris (September 12) – Leading Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) software provider Sciforma announces that leading mining equipment manufacturer Sandvik has chosen their PPM platform for managing its project portfolios. In particular, the organization’s Engineering and Design offices, including all portfolio, project, and resource managers and collaborators, will use the tool.
Sandvik is a global, high-tech engineering group providing solutions that enhance productivity, profitability, and sustainability for the manufacturing, mining, and infrastructure industries. In 2022, the group had approximately 40,000 employees and 112 billion SEK revenue across 150 countries. The Sciforma Plan PPM solution is currently implemented in Sandvik’s Lyon factory. There, the plant’s 200 employees design and produce made-to-order mining drilling rigs for the world market.
“During the one-month trial period of Sciforma at the Lyon plant, the tool’s flexible settings were greatly appreciated. It was thus possible to adapt to the specific needs of each resource manager,” said Sandvik Engineering Manager, Laurent Demia. “The ability to simulate schedules is a significant advantage of Sciforma. We expect a lot from the tool on this point.”
Prior to using Sciforma, Sandvik’s project teams used HP PPM, Microsoft Project, and Excel files. Because of their global reach, Sandvik needed a robust, collaborative PPM tool with greater automation, reporting, and resource and capacity management functionalities, as well as long-term global visibility. The Sciforma Plan instance of the PPM solution fit the bill.
“At Sandvik, we must be flexible and responsive to different clients, mining methods, and regulations at the global level. We needed a flexible and configurable solution to improve work efficiency, report on production status, and help us manage strategic portfolio decisions,” said Sandvik Project Manager, Rémy Barraud. “We hope that managers will derive the greatest benefit from Sciforma, thanks to the increased visibility into workload and resource organization.”
Sandvik joins a growing pool of manufacturing companies using PPM for new product development. Consequently, Sciforma’s manufacturing clients have achieved optimized resource utilization, accelerated product delivery, and consolidated analytics for faster, data-driven decision-making.
Sciforma PPM customers span a wide range: from SMEs to divisions of some of the world’s largest, most dynamic companies. To request a demo or information, contact Sciforma.
